My mother always used the term to describe a doll, either of the toilet-roll-holder or ice-cream-cake variety! In either case, they involved voluminous skirts. You've inspired me to research further.pearlcardiganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17825778447235920180noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623916397876614025.post-26455778428999048892012-08-06T01:22:25.271-07:002012-08-06T01:22:25.271-07:00Love these! But then we had the whole Laura Ashley era. Who knows what's next?What-I-Foundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01960612319902765855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623916397876614025.post-51911827114695160072012-08-04T07:59:42.084-07:002012-08-04T07:59:42.084-07:00I love these 1902 styles, inspired by the 1870'...I love these 1902 styles, inspired by the 1870's who re-interpreted the 1780's. How funny is that--yet a few bits from the original Shepherdess style remained: like the chintz fabric, gauzy neckline fichu, sleeve ruffles, big straw hat and polonaise drapery. Have we seen this revival in recent decades? It all seems a bit like the 1980's to me!Jen Ohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12371112170847037417noreply@blogger.com
