Caresse Bridal Gowns - 1970
I have this brochure from Caresse that shows some of the choices brides could make in 1970. Don't miss the hair or veils, you won't be able to miss the bridesmaids!

I remember those styles, but what I didn't realise at the time was how much they all looked like maternity dresses! I suppose it was convenient for anyone who "had to" get married (as we used to say).
ReplyDeleteThey all look like Barbie outfits. What's the deal with the crazy 'Gypsy Girl Pants Dress'?! Grandmothers would be having fainting fits at the wild 'now' pattern.
ReplyDeleteI had a prom dress in 1970 that looked almost exactly like the baby blue empire waisted/scoop neck dress with the lace under the bust. That Empire waist was EVERYWHERE.
ReplyDeleteI like Gypsy Girl! Took me a while to work out that the pink and blue brides were in fact bridesmaids... or were they? Did bridesmaids really wear such veils in those days?
ReplyDeleteI hope those were bridesmaids...most of those outfits wouldn't pass muster even for a guest nowadays!
