Mothers who sewed for us.

For many of us it was our Moms who introduced sewing into our lives. I vividly remember the coat she made me for kindergarten. What I don't remember is how she pulled that off in a tiny house with four kids under 5, but she did it and I remember. I hope you have nice memories of things sewn for you...or that you've made some nice memories for somebody else.

  1. My earliest sewing memories of my mom were the horrendous patchwork & gingham dresses she made for me for kindergarten! (What can I say, it was 1980!)

Hope you have a fab Mother's Day!

  2. I'm not sure my kids memories are as fond as mine are...I didn't sew clothes that would bring on sweet memories. But they both sleep under quilts I made so that's something.

  3. My mom was very big on making my sister and I matching outfits (this was the 50s), so my entire elementary career appeared to be one very long series of the same things - plaid dresses, plaid skirts and sweaters in the winter and pink dotted swiss dresses for parties. My great good luck was that my sister's height took off when she was in the 5th grade, so that sort of stopped.
